(in the artist’s own words)
One day I will have an exhibit exclusively of portraits. It will be titled “People I have known and other characters”.
It is often a glance or a posture that gives away my feeling for the subject. Throughout my life I have been close to extraordinary ordinary people. They have left their mark on me, and these portraits are my only avenue of payback. These works are not meant to capture physical likeness, rather a sense of character. They represent either real people or attributes of real people who I have come to love and respect (or with whom I have come to terms).
