(In the artist’s own words)
The abstracted boat shape seen in this gallery evolved from a more obvious representation of a boat form. The boat metaphor is meant to convey many feelings and ideas that the abstracted version seemed to express more directly than it’s realistic brother. So here we have a boat perhaps impaled on a rock, taking on water, perhaps sinking or perhaps surviving the ordeal. A boat tethered in a storm can be a good thing unless the rope is too tight, in which case the boat will sink. My own experience in life often exists in this gray area, and I am certain the same can be said for most people.
